Floyd R. Gilliland, Jr., Ph. D.

In Remembrance
December 18, 1939 – August 8, 2015

Floyd Gilliland was a partner in the Firm until he passed away on August 8, 2015. His law partners and colleagues were blessed to have him in their lives, and he inspired all who knew him through his positive attitude, legal acumen and sound judgment.

Prior to joining the firm, Floyd was a professor at Auburn University; operated a large cotton farming operation; and formed and operated companies that fabricated and marketed agricultural and industrial equipment and provided research and consulting services to the agricultural chemical industry. Floyd was raised in Harrison, Arkansas. He was married to Janie Gilliland, also an attorney, for 52 years. In addition to Janie, Floyd is survived by his two children, Kris, a law professor at The University of Mississippi School of Law, and John, an attorney in Washington, D.C., and three grandchildren.

One of Floyd’s proudest professional accomplishments was his leadership role in growing and maintaining a law firm of attorneys who will continue to honor Floyd through their professionalism and dedication to their clients.
