Matthew A. Laymon

Matt joined the firm in 2018 and focuses on general insurance defense, motor vehicle litigation, and wrongful death cases. As a young man, Matt’s father was in the United States Army and his family lived on many different military bases across America. They eventually settled in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Matt earned a B.A. in History from Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, where he played baseball and was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He then graduated from Cumberland Law School and has wide-ranging experience as an attorney.
Prior to joining the Gulf Coast office, Matt worked as a personal injury attorney primarily focused on trucking accidents. He also handled product liability claims, suits against municipalities, and nursing home abuse cases. Matt also has years of experience as a prosecutor in Baldwin County, Alabama. In his role as an assistant District Attorney, Matt tried numerous cases, ranging from theft to murder. He was also the original prosecutor in Baldwin County Veteran’s Court, a non-adversarial treatment venue for local veterans. Matt and his wife, Dorothy, have one daughter, Eleanor, who attends Bayside Academy in Daphne, Alabama.
