After graduating cum laude from Washington and Lee University in 1992, Mr. Stevens attended law school at Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama, graduating in 1995. He began his career clerking for the Honorable Terry Butts on the Alabama Supreme Court, and after serving the Court for the year, joined the firm’s practice in the central Alabama office in 1996. For the first years of his practice, he concentrated primarily on employment discrimination, product liability insurance, fraud and bad faith litigation, motor vehicle litigation and workers’ compensation. Beginning in 2001, his practice primarily shifted to automobile litigation and workers’ compensation practice. David has successfully defended numerous corporations, and also represents the State of Alabama on numerous workers’ compensation matters throughout the state. In addition to this workers’ compensation practice, David maintains an active motor vehicle litigation practice. His practice focuses on the handling of personal injury claims, against both employers and motor vehicle carriers, including commercial motor vehicle accidents, private commercial motor vehicle accidents, professional litigation, and the defense of employers and workers’ compensation matters. Often times, his client will call him immediately upon an injury to their employee for legal advice prior to the litigation process even beginning. His active trial practice includes over twenty trials on average per year, and he is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell. He frequently speaks at various seminars, teaches continuing education seminars, and has been published in the Alabama Lawyer on workers’ compensation matters. Mr. Stevens has recently been retained in numerous cases as a mediator, specifically in workers compensation matters or automobile collision cases with workers compensation subrogation interest. His success rate in resolving these matters is over 90%.

Since being admitted to the Bar, David is an active participate at both the local and state levels in various legal and non legal activities.
