Upon graduation from the University of Alabama School of Law, Mr. Tuley joined the firm’s central Alabama office in 1998. Since joining the firm, Jay has focused his practice on the defense of complex litigation, including truck wrecks, wrongful death litigation, product liability and commercial motor vehicle litigation. Jay has successfully defended corporations and individuals in trial in both state and federal courts throughout the State of Alabama. Jay’s practice focuses on the handling of litigation that is expert intensive, including commercial motor vehicle accidents, professional liability litigation, and product liability claims related to design defects and failure to warn claims. In addition, Jay has worked extensively in the defense of premises liability litigation as well as funeral home litigation providing guidance, representation and defense of funeral homes and cemeteries throughout the State of Alabama. On behalf of commercial motor vehicle companies, Jay often times acts as a first responder handling pre-litigation investigation, as well as retention and coordination of experts in order to provide guidance for potential claims that may be alleged against truck drivers and their employers.

Since being admitted to the bar, Jay has been an active participant at both the local and state level. This includes involvement with the Montgomery County Bar Association and the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association, where he served a three year term as a state wide Board of Director. Jay is also actively involved in his community. He is a member of First Baptist Church and is also an Executive Board Member on the YMCA Jimmy Hitchcock Committee, where he previously served as President. Jay also is actively involved in youth sports, where he coaches youth soccer and basketball. Jay is a Montgomery native. Upon graduation from Robert E. Lee High School, he attended Auburn University, where he played football and received a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He then graduated from the University of Alabama in 1998 with a Juris Doctor. While in law school, he was Senior Editor of the Journal of the Legal Profession and a member of the Student Bar Association. Jay was inducted in to the Robert E. Lee Hall of Fame for the class of 2020.
